Music has been a big part of Charlyn’s life since her youth. While pursuing her studies, Charlyn was the President and Student Advisor for Singapore Polytechnic’s Chinese Orchestra and Arts Festival.
Charlyn has also worked with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra as a Community Outreach Executive, organizing events and projects such as Concerts for Children, SSO on Campus, SSO Edu-taining Activity Books and Audio CDs, Music Appreciation Talks and Workshops. Besides being competent in piano, Charlyn is also well versed in song writing and vocal recording for demo. She was trained under Xiao Han, Singapore’s award winning lyricist as well as Eric Ng and Jim Lim, well-known songwriters for top-selling artistes such as Stefanie Sun and Tanya Chua in the Chinese pop scene. Charlyn also performs gigs with her band at a café and various events. Charlyn possesses more than 10 years of teaching experience. Many students find Charlyn’s teaching style to be effective and engaging. Charlyn is certified by The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) with the Certificate of Teaching and Diploma in Principles of Instrumental Teaching (Piano), trained under mentors such as Dr. Julian Hellaby, Richard Crozier and Bill Thomson. Charlyn has also obtained her Diploma in Popular Music Vocals (Performance) from the London College of Music (DipLCM). Her vocal mentor is Singapore singer and songwriter Lin Si Tong (林思彤). Dedicated to SG50, Charlyn has written the lyrics for the songs《There's No Place Like Home》and 《存在的意义》, based on Audris Ho's melody. She also sung the latter, and both songs were produced and arranged by Lin Si Tong. |
